Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff, is dead.

Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, is dead. His age is unclear at this time.
Mr Kyari died of coronavirus. He received treatment at a private hospital in Lagos.
His death was announced by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, in a Tweet early Saturday.
“Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon,” Mr Adesina wrote.
Mr Adesina sent a short statement, saying, “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari. The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020. May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”
Mr Kyari had on March 23 tested positive to the novel coronavirus. On March 29, Mr Kyari issued a statement on his decision to move to Lagos for “further test and observation.”
The statement was the first official confirmation of his COVID-19 status since he was confirmed positive six days earlier.
In his statement, he said; “I have made my own care arrangements to avoid further burdening the public health system, which faces so many pressures.”
“This is a precautionary measure: I feel well, but last week I tested positive for Coronavirus, the pandemic that is sweeping the world. I have followed all protocols the government has announced to self-isolate and quarantine,” he said.
The perceived secrecy surrounding the management of Mr Kyari’s medical condition further heightened the agitation by Nigerians for information on the whereabouts of arguably Nigeria’s most powerful presidential aide.

Some Nigerians on social media had also speculated that Mr Kyari was flown abroad.
Although Mr Kyari and the government he served did not disclose the hospital where he received treatment, some sources suggested that he was treated at First Cardiology Consultant (FCC), a highly-sought-after private health facility located in Ikoyi, Lagos.
One of the sources who did not want to be named due to patient’s confidentiality guideline and sensitivity of Mr Kyari’s case matter confirmed to our reporter that the chief of staff later became very sick. While Mr Kyari received treatment at a private hospital, the Minister of Health, Osagie Enahire, warned private hospitals to stop treating COVID-19 patients and instead refer suspected cases promptly to various public facilities across states dedicated for the management of the disease.

It is unclear Saturday morning if Mr Kyari’s death is among the four new deaths announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late on Friday.
The NCDC said Nigeria’s death toll increased to 17 on Friday from 13 on Thursday.
Nigeria has 493 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including the 17 deaths while 157 people have recovered and have been discharged.
Mr Kyari had travelled to Germany on March 7 and returned about a week later. He is suspected to have contracted the disease while there.
The chief of staff, who was in Europe alongside the power minister, Saleh Mamman, returned to the country on March 14.
The duo had travelled to Germany to meet with officials of Siemens AG in pursuit of the deal recently signed between the Nigerian government and the energy company towards improving electricity supply in the country.
Mr Kyari was first appointed chief of staff to the president in 2015 when Mr Buhari came to power. He was reappointed last year after his principal won reelection.According to a statement by the presidency when he was first appointed, Mr Kyari held Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick in Law and Sociology.
He worked with the New Nigeria Development Company, New Africa Holdings, African International Bank, the United Bank for Africa, Unilever, and Mobil in various capacities over the years.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo's wife Cristina tests positive for Coronavirus

Cristina Cuomo, the wife of CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, has been diagnosed with Coronavirus two weeks after he announced he was infected.

Chris made the announcement from his family home on Wednesday night during a live interview with his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

'It's very rare for a family to be one-and-done,' the 49-year-old father-of-three said on his show, Cuomo Prime Time. 'And Cristina now has COVID. She is now positive, and it just breaks my heart. It is the one thing I was hoping wouldn't happen, and now it has.'

He later tweeted that his children are fine.

"Kids are still healthy but this shook us at our literal core," he said. "All are stepping up. Can't wait to shake this fever so I can help her as she helped me. Sucks."

According to Chris, his wife's symptoms include a loss of smell and taste, which Chris said that, based on anectodal evidence, appeared to be more common in milder cases of the illness.

The News anchor announced his coronavirus diagnosis two weeks ago. At the time, he said he was having fevers, chills, and shortness of breath.

Cuomo recently revealed he's now feeling well enough to work, and has continued to anchor his 9 p.m. program from his home

Kanye West implies he will vote for Donald Trump in 2020 election

Rapper, Kanye West has implied he will be voting for US President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

The 42-year-old rapper made the declaration in the May issue of GQ magazine, saying: 'We know who I'm voting on... I'm not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over because of it!'
The father of four who has always faced backlash for being an outspoken supporter of Trump told the publication that 'better real estate' is the primary motivation for his decision.

'I buy real estate. It's better now than when Obama was in office. They don't teach you in school about buying property. They teach you how to become somebody's property,' he claimed.

Asked whether he was worried about being an outcast in liberal Hollywood due to his political preferences, West said: 'Celebrities are scared! Celebrities don't have the real voice... What's the point of being a celebrity if you can't have an opinion?'

The controversial rapper also trashed Hillary Clinton's 2016 'I'm With Her' slogan, stating: “I was told my career would end if I wasn’t with [Hillary Clinton]. What kind of campaign is that, anyway?”

West continued. “That’s like if Obama’s campaign was ‘I’m with black.’ What’s the point of being a celebrity if you can’t have an opinion? Everybody make their own opinion! You know?”

'Both my parents were freedom fighters... they didn't fight for me to be told by white people which white person I can vote on!'  West who got himself into trouble for claiming that slavery was 'a choice' in 2018, made several controversial comments on race in his wide-ranging chat with GQ.

'One in three African Americans are enslaved, and we go more crazy if, you know, someone scores a touchdown,' he stated.

'Modern-day mass incarceration is right in front of us, and if I even use the word slavery, I'm treated like I'm a white person talking about slavery.'

Tinubu speaks over Corona:History will not be kind to us if Nigerians go hungry - Tinubu tells FG

Former governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu has appealed to the federal government to protect Nigerians from hunger and other disease while fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

The APC Chieftain stated that history will not be kind to the federal government if Nigerians go hungry amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement released on Wednesday April 15, Tinubu averred that social intervention programmes will only cater for small scale traders and leave out the average salary earners who lost their jobs because of the lockdown order.

The former Governor also called for the expansion of the school feeding programme and push for debt relief.

Tinubu said;

“We dare not underestimate the twin dangers posed by the virus itself and the economic consequences of the public health response.  Our goal must be that the people live neither with disease nor in hunger. This situation presents a historic chance to establish a more beneficial social contract between the government and the governed.
“If we so utilize this moment, it will be recorded as a pivotal one in our national history. If we allow this moment to slip, history will not be obliged to treat us with great mercy.
“The worst of this dark potential can be avoided if the government is prepared to act in ways that not only feed people but protect the basic contours of our private-sector economy so that it can more quickly revive once normal conditions return.

The APC chieftain recommended;

  • Suspension/amendment of the 5% deficit limit of the fiscal responsibility law which prohibits fiscal deficit from exceeding 5% of the nation’s gross domestic product. “The best step would be to suspend the 5% budgetary limit for this fiscal year. Alternatively, the limit should be raised to 25-30% to allow the federal government more room to make the minimum expenditures necessary to save the economy and the people,” he wrote.
  • Emergency sustenance payments: This, he said, could be paid to households for monthly needs or as emergency unemployment insurance to people who can prove they have been laid off due to the crisis or as payroll support to businesses to help them maintain staff so they can return to full operation when normalcy returns.
  • Re-establishment of agricultural market and commodity boards for strategically important crops to stabilise farmers’ income and consumer prices.
  • Import suppression through luxury taxes, higher tariffs and higher import processing fees due to the partial closure of ports of entry due to the coronavirus.
  • Conditional interest-free loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria to large businesses. Tinubu said some of the conditions could be maintaining their workforce and even hiring an extra 10% for two or three months at reduced wages. “These additional workers should be youth hired under a temporary internship or training program.”
