Meghan Markle is to launch her own line of women's clothing in aid of charity

Meghan Markle is set to launch her own women’s clothing line in aid of charity.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed this in the new issue of British Vogue which she guest edited.
The new mum has persuaded major British retailers Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw - along with her designer friend, Mischa Nonoo - to create a

"capsule" collection of women’s workwear which will benefit Smart Works, a charity helping women back into the workplace.

Each time a piece is bought from one of the retailers, a "like for like" item will be donated to the charity.

Smart Works, one of Meghan’s first patronages, helps women from disadvantaged backgrounds get interview-ready by providing them with a new outfit and coaching from a team of volunteer mentors, according to Daily Mail.
Meghan writes in the September issue of British Vogue: "When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes.

Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.
"To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friends, the designer Mischa Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.

"Taking the idea further, many of the brands agreed to use the one-for-one model: for each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to the charity. Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together."

A royal source confirmed the idea had been Meghan’s and said the collection would be available later this year but no further details could be given at present.
While still working as an actress on the legal drama Suits in Toronto, Meghan had her own clothing line with local retailer, Reitmans, featuring vegan leather trousers.

Breaking; Fire outlet at Owode Oniri market where 20 vehicles and 10 shops burnt(photos)

Fire destroys 20 vehicles, 10 shops at Owode Onirin market in Lagos
On Monday night, July 29th, fire swept through Owode Onirin, the popular auto parts market near Ikorodu destroying over 20 vehicles, 10 shops and belongings worth millions of naira.

Also destroyed were buses, bonnets, vehicle engines and cash kept in some shops. The inferno, which destroyed Line M of the market, started around 9:30pm as some residents said they saw flames and heard sounds, which forced them to run for safety.

They said they later got water to put out the fire. A business owner in the market, Mr. Wasiu Bello, alleged that the fire was caused by the carelessness of a food seller, who left a burning coal in her shop. Bello lost his shop and belongings to the inferno. He alleged that the fire started from the food seller’s shop. He said he lost some vehicles to the fire, a bonnet worth N1.2 million that had been sold, but yet to be taken away by the buyer.

Another victim, Olamilekan Semiu, alleged that the night guards had not been performing their duties efficiently.

“If they are efficient, they ought to have noticed the fire before it became wild, ” he added.

Semiu urged the community’s leaders to take steps to prevent a recurrence. “New guards should be employed and a security house built close to the line to ensure observation of the vicinity. We will enact a rule that no food seller will be allowed to own shops in the market, because nothing else could have wreaked this havoc if not for their fire,” he said.

An eyewitness accused the Lagos State Fire Service of late response to the emergency call. “They put out the fire at about 11:30pm after using a full water tank,” he said.

Lilian Esoro writes on success

Lilian Esoro shared highlights from a recent conversation she had which centered on failure and success.

The Nollywood actress noted that there is no formula for success as she advised people to see failure as a blessing in disguise and a lesson to learn and grow from.

Lilian Esoro wrote on Instagram;

I was having a discussion the other day, and somehow we got talking about success and how to sustain and handle certain

situations. And I said there really isn’t any formula for success! It’s quite simple, really: Double your rate of failure. They go huh? I’m like that’s the problem.... You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. See failures as a blessing in disguise, a lesson you learn n grow from. It’s your decision at the end of the day. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, so go ahead and make mistakes.

Make all you can. Because remember it’s in the failures and mistakes you find success.

Ed Sheeran spends £4million buying up his neghbours' houses to stop complaints about noise

Ed Sheeran took a swing to stop his neighbours from filing noise complaints against him, by spending £4million to buy up houses around him.
The singer said to be worth $160million (£128million) reportedly bought not only the flat above his Notting Hill restaurant, but also the two houses next to his £19.8million mansion in London.
‘Ed’s had neighbours grumbling about noise before so when he got a chance to buy up the two houses next to his London home, he jumped at the chance,’ a source told The Sun.

‘Ed has not only made a wise investment but is limiting the chance of people grumbling about loud music or parties.’
It was further gathered that he used the same plan for his restaurant in London. These latest purchases have resulted in a property portfolio worth a reported £47million.
‘He also decided to buy the flat above his restaurant because that could have been a massive sticking point for the business going forward.’

This also follows up report of Ed Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, upsetting locals after positioning a bunch of hay bales around their controversial ‘pond’ in Sussex. He was granted permission for the pond based on the promise that it was for wildlife, however, neighbours are convinced that’s not the case. It said locals have now nicknamed the area Sheeran-ville because he owns so much property there.

R. Kelly's crisis manager announces he's stepping down, says he won't dare leave his daughter alone with the accused pedophile

R. Kelly's crisis manager, Darrell Johnson has announced he's stepping down from his position and would no longer work for the embattled singer.

"I step down as crisis manager for personal reasons. Mr. Kelly is in good hands with Mr. Greenberg," Johnson said, referring to Steve Greenberg , the criminal defense attorney who heads Kelly's legal team in Chicago.

The news comes hours after Johnson appeared on "CBS This Morning" and told co-host Gayle King that he would never leave his own daughter alone with an accused pedophile.

"I would not leave my daughter with anyone that's accused of being a pedophile. I would not."
Johnson also said during the interview that he was worried about Kelly, saying he was "a mess," scared and isolated. He also told King he thinks Kelly is on suicide watch.

The singer has been in solitary confinement with no access to television or contact with other people, Greenberg has said.
Kelly, 52, has been indicted on 18 counts; 13 in Illinois and five in New York that include sexual exploitation of a child and kidnapping.

The singer is set to be arraigned in a federal court in New York on August 2. He is scheduled to be in a federal court in Chicago on September 4 for a status hearing.

Insecurity: Alaafin of Oyo writes Buhari, says Yoruba land under siege by Fulani herdsmen

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, wrote an open letter to President Buhari yesterday, July 21, 2019, over the insecurity explosion in different parts of the country.

The Oyo monarch in his letter title “Yoruba Question in Nigeria Conundrum”, blamed the insecurity almost on all highways in Yorubaland on Fulani herdsmen. Maintaining that his confidence in Buhari getting the situation under control remains unshaken, the Alaafin of Oyo added that the Yorubas have all it takes to defend itself if the situation does not improve.

“This has to do with the incessant and increasing menace of Fulani herdsmen that have laid siege in almost all the highways of Yoruba land. Whether in Owo, Akure, Ilesa/Ife-Ibadan road or Ibarapa zone and Ijebu area of Ogun State, the story is the same.

“I have held series of consultations with opinion moulders and eminent Yoruba leaders across board about the menace of these cattle herdsmen with such assault like raping of our women and in some occasions, in the presence of their husbands. That is apart from massive destruction of our agricultural lands; which ultimately points to imminent starvation," the letter read in part.

Robbery suspect who operates in 'army uniform' arrested in Ogun State (Photo)

A robbery suspect identified as Egbeke Ifeoluwa, who operates in Army uniform on Sango-Ijoko Road in Ogun State, has been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun State annex of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response team (IRT).

The suspect was the leader of a robbery gang that specialised in one-chance robbery in different parts of Ogun State and nearby states, adding that they carried out their operations anytime of the day.

Ifeoluwa, 25, wore Army uniform to intimidate the public and scare away law enforcement agents. Following the gang’s operations, road users and residents gave intelligence report to the IRT annex in Sango on the nefarious activities of the gang. Based on the intelligence report, the IRT Commander, Deputy Commissioner of

Police Abba Kyari, directed the Ogun State annex to arrest the hoodlums.
The Nation reports that the operatives swung into action and saw a commercial bus driver in an Army uniform plying the road. They stopped the bus with number plate XV 14 AKD and the driver, who was later identified as Egbeke Ifeoluwa, the wanted gang leader, was nabbed. His colleagues, however, escaped.
It was gathered that when the vehicle was searched by the operatives, they found one live ammunition, two jack knives, five military vests, one military beret, military gadget and one Navy ID card hidden under the bus seats. The suspect, who initially insisted that he was a soldier, later confessed that he was a fake soldier and the gang leader the police had been looking for.

He confessed that they usually hid their weapons and army uniforms under the vehicle’s seats and only wore them when they wanted to operate, noting that the uniforms helped to scare away the police and other security agents. On how he could assist the police to arrest his fleeing colleagues, he said it would be difficult to get them because none of them had permanent addresses or phone numbers.

Breaking: Suspected herdsmen kill daughter of Afenifere chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti

Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, says it has received information that Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has been killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen.

The spokesman for Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said the 58-year-old woman was heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, when she was attacked and shot by the 'herdsmen'.
He said, “We have confirmed the death of Mrs. Funke Olakunrin (58), daughter of our leader, Chief Fasoranti.

Eyewitness accounts say she died of gunshots from Fulani herdsmen who shot her at Ore junction in Ondo State earlier today.

“She was coming from Akure when the armed Fulani herdsmen came from the bush to attack her and other vehicles. Her domestic staff in the car with her also sustained gunshots. This is one death too many and a clear we-can-take-it-no-more death.”

Olufunke is the second child of 94-year-old Fasoranti to die. The elder statesman had also lost a daughter, Bunmi, some years ago.
